18 Years in the Making

Saturday October 25, 2008 was an amazing day. It started out kinda cold, windy and drizzling, however by 6:45 pm the cold and rain didn't mean very much as the Michigan State Spartans walked away with the W against the Michigan Wolverines. Kickoff was at 3:30pm and so it began. The last time the Spartans won in the Big House was in 1990. The last time they beat Michigan was in 2001. This was a big deal. The 6-2 Spartans stepped onto the field ready to claim the Paul Bunyan Trophy and claim it they did. Going into the half it was tied at 14-14. In the beginning of the third Michigan scored, leading 21-14 in the third until Michigan State tied it up at 21 to end the third. The fourth quarter was all about State. Two more touchdowns clinched the Spartan's victory over the Wolverines for the first time in a long time. This game was a big one, probably the most important one of the entire season and instead of hanging on to last weeks loss against Ohio State, the Spartans sucked it up and stepped up to the plate. The only regret I have about this game is that I was not able to attend such a momentous event in the Big House. So all you Spartans, remember Mike Hart's words from last year, about how Michigan State is Michigan's little brother and remember that little brothers do grow up and when they do, watch out. Cuz in cases such as this one, the little brother grew up better and stronger than his older brother and when payback time came around it was the older brother who fell. It's truly a great day to be a Spartan. GO GREEN!!!!!!!!
